Christmas is a favorite time of the year for many people. It is a time of giving, sharing, enjoyment and especially a time of creating lasting memories. There are so many decorative crafts that can be prepared for Christmas, the list is seemingly endless. Many of them can involve the entire family, even small children. Kids love to help with crafts and decorations, even the tiniest of tasks can make them feel important.

A manger scene. Make a manger scene using a wooden box for the manger, and fill it with dried grass or straw. Dress dolls up as the different characters and place them around the scene.

Children can help string popcorn; tie decorations to tinsel; cutout paper snowflakes, angels, santas, stars, and other Christmas characters – spice these up with glitter and tinsel. By keeping children busy with simple crafts, they not only feel useful, but it gives parents the time needed to do the more complicated things.

Prepare your own bobbles! Buy Styrofoam balls and paint them in the colors you prefer; use glitter glue or regular glue and sprinkled glitter and add bits of ribbon or other decorative items of your choice.

Decorate candles with Christmas ribbon. By tying a simple bow around your candles, their appearance will change entirely. These make both great decorations and gifts.

There are many different styles of wreaths that can be made using tinsel, wire framing, fruit, bobbles, ribbon, candles, etc.

Make your own Christmas cookies, by planning ahead, you can get your cookie baking done before the rush of the season actually begins, store them in airtight containers, and freeze them in separate portions. This way, you will always have cookies to eat as you decorate and prepare things around the house for the coming festivities.
